Algonquin Regional High School ~ Summer Reading 2015
The goal of summer reading is to encourage students to be life-long readers and to see reading as a source of intellectual growth as well as a pleasurable pastime. This year, we have also added a summer writing component to our requirements for freshmen and seniors. Students signed up for honors courses must complete two assignments listed below; CP students must complete one assignment listed below. Students should read the title and/or complete the assignment that corresponds with their first semester English class. A title of your choice means that the student can choose any book (fiction or non-fiction) s/he desires, as long as it is age appropriate.
Freshman English:
(H) (CP) A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier by Ishmael Beah
(H) Complete 2-3 written entries in The 6th Annual New York Times Summer Reading Contest. Be prepared to share these entries with your teacher in September
