Language Arts
You'll get a new list of root words and spelling words. Roots: man, mar, mater, meta
Spelling words: manufacture, manual, manuscript, marine, mariner, maternal, maternity, matriarchy, matricide, metacognition. Remember you can get extra credit on Friday's quiz by commenting on this post with a new word based on this week's roots. In grammar we are moving on to subject complements. You'll have to complete 3 exercises from the text book by next Monday. Because of conferences and some special things going on over the next two weeks, this week's spelling and grammar quiz is being moved to next Thursday- so no excuse for not being ready. For workshop you should be working on your free write rough draft and being ready to edit next Monday.
Confused about subject complements? Here is a good site to review them.
Reading
We will be continuing Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream this week. We will be reading, cutting and acting out various scenes until we finish the play sometime next week. Don't forget, you are still responsible for keeping up with your free reading. You should be reading 20 pages each night.
Confused about the play? Click here for a good summary. It is Wikipedia but I read it over and it is a pretty understandable summary, and if you're really curious there is a lot of great extra info.
To recap: In LA grammar work due next Monday. Spelling/grammar quiz next Thursday. Rough draft of free write due next Monday. In Reading 100 pages in your book by Friday. If you have questions post them here.
