Is It Just Me....

....Or Is This Kind Of Creepy?

Since we are starting our unit on Speculative Fiction, which includes Sci-Fi, I couldn't resist sharing this clip I stumbled across. We will eventually be talking about things like robots, artificial intelligence and whether all technological progress is objectively good or not, and this video incorporates all three.

Some things to think about:

• Is it OK for machines to take the place of humans in entertainment? They already are to a certain extent in film in terms of computer animation. 
• What if a robot became a legitimate star. Would it become a role model like some pop start become today?
• What if news anchors became robotic? Could the messages we get from the news be more easily controlled? What if they got so lifelike that you couldn't tell?

And the obligatory paranoid question....What if robots already are in all of the above situations and we don't know it???
